Judicial investigations
DIA devotes special attention to investigations into criminal offenders rather than into crimes. As a rule, it does not intervene upon receipt of a ‘notitia criminis’ but concentrate its efforts focusing on the analysis of both the phenomenon as a whole and the context in which criminal syndicates operate. This approach aims at identifying for each criminal member:
• offences committed ;
• roles played;
• criminal attitudes;
• criminal behaviours.
Counteraction is developed in close collaboration with police forces and aimed at selected strategic targets, thus allowing investigators to combat them in a comprehensive manner, without wasting information and energy resources.
