'Safe Habitat': a brochure by the National Fire Corps translated into 9 languages for the prevention of domestic accidents

Topics explored are gas, electricity, toxic substances, falls, water and fire

'Safe habitat' brochureOur home, where we feel secure and safe, is actually the place where we would never have thought that the greatest number of accidents occur. Oversights, damaged systems, negligence are the most common factors which determine real dangers for the safety of people and their habitat.

This is the reason why the National Fire Corps has been so long engaged in both prevention and awareness raising activities about the appropriate behaviour to be followed in order to prevent accidents, by providing qualified information on how to handle dangerous situations.

Considering the strong experience gained through information activity carried out in favour of schools and families, the brochure ‘Safe Habitat’ was drawn up as a concise version intended for the different ethnic groups living in our country.

Translated into 9 languages, Italian, German, Spanish, Russian, Portuguese, English, French, Chinese and Arabic, the publication was prepared by the Bureau of External Communications within the Department for Fire Service, Public Rescue and Civil Defence in collaboration with the 'Sicurinsieme' committee.

This initiative will enable the foreign language-speaking communities residing in the national territory to learn general safety and prevention rules for gas, electricity, toxic substances, falls, water and fire.
