List and registrar of elected representatives in office

The list and registrar of elected representatives in office (mayors, president of province, municipal and provincial council) are kept by the Central Directorate for Electoral Services, tasked with updating the composition of elective bodies of regions, provinces and municipalities. 

Data referring to the elected representatives are entered by the prefectures’ offices. Any request for data change or supplement by the local elected representatives is forwarded to the prefectures cabinet office. 

The Central Directorate for Electoral Services handles a large archive open to consultation and available for data download. Data include the following:
• Information on the composition of the governing bodies of each municipality, province and region. Data referring to each elected representative are also accessible.
• Statistical data concerning local and regional elected representatives’ office, sex, qualification, professional activity. Statistics about female elected representatives in office are also available.
• Data referring to the elected representatives having been in office since a given date, broken down by year and typology of administration (municipality, province, region)
• Data concerning codes or initials and corresponding descriptions of reasons having led to dismissal, time required for administrative procedure, political parties, academic and professional qualifications, municipal responsibilities, municipal, provincial and regional office, electoral codes and National Institute of Statistics (ISTAT) codes of the Italian municipalities.
