Local elected representatives and staff serving in local authorities
The ministry is in charge of gathering information on local elected representatives in office and updating their list. It is also tasked with taking a census of employees serving in local authorities.
Local elected representatives
The Central Directorate for Election Services deals with updating the list including local representatives who have been elected mayors, chairs of provinces, members of town/provincial councils, members of municipal/provincial executives. It gathers data on regions’ elective bodies composition, supplied by the prefectures.
Moreover, it handles an online archive containing statistical data on local and regional elected representatives’ distribution according to office function, sex, academic qualification, political party and profession. Access to historical data on representatives elected over the time, divided by year and local authority (municipality, province, region) is also available.
Staff serving in local authorities
Besides taking a census of the staff serving in local authorities, the Department undertakes a preliminary inquiry for drawing up the reports to be submitted when extraordinary appeals to the President of the Republic are lodged by the employees of provinces, municipalities, mountain communities on legal and economic issues.
The department also provides advisory services to local authorities on staff-related issues.
