Asylum
Any alien who is persecuted in his/her country of origin can receive asylum and protection in our national territory through the recognition of “refugee status”. Other forms of protection are provided in the event of natural disasters, calamities, war crisis.
Asylum seekers and refugees
In our country, the right of asylum is guaranteed to individuals persecuted for reasons of race, religion, nationality, membership of a particular social group and political opinion
Recognition of refugee status
The application is accepted when the reported acts of persecution are a threat to the life or freedom of the individual concerned
The National Commission for the Right of Asylum and the Local Commissions
Central body for the coordination of the Local Commissions charged with the examination of the applications for the recognition of “refugee status”
The National Fund for Asylum Policies and Services
Allocation of funds in favour of local authorities providing reception services to asylum seekers, refugees and beneficiaries of humanitarian protection
Trafficking in human beings
Exploitation of human beings who are abducted and lured by deception in their origin countries and sold as slaves by international criminal organisations
International protection of unaccompanied minors
Protection systems for minors must take into account the Convention on the Rights of the Child and they must adopt measures aimed at guaranteeing the “best interest of the child”
International protection of women victims of violence
Women who are victims of violence are subject to a form of persecution which may fall within the category of “refugee”

Universally recognised since 2001, it raises public awareness on exiles’ sufferings and supports the efforts of involved organisations
